2011-2012 SEASON
Blue Square Bet Premier Kidderminster Harriers booked themselves a place in the final of the Worcestershire Senior Cup after seeing off an under strength Evesham side in the semi finals at Aggborough.
It was all-square at 2-2 at the end of 90 minutes but four goals in extra-time eased the full-timers into the final.
Leading the way for Harriers was Marvin Johnson, who bagged an impressive hat-trick on his debut.
Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division side Evesham, who included four youth teamers, were dealt a blow before kick-off when former Kidderminster midfielder Neil MacKenzie was injured in the warm-up and replaced by Ryan Keen.
It took the home side just three minutes to go ahead with Johnson beating debutant keeper Aaron Thomasson with a close-range header.
James Vincent, Anthony Malbon and Callum Gittings all went close to adding to the lead but Evesham were next to find the net when Marcus Palmer got his 14th goal of the season on the stroke of half-time.
Kidderminster regained the lead eight minutes after the restart through substitute Marc Williams, only for Palmer to pull the Robins level for a second time with a delightful finish over keeper Tony Breeden.
In the closing stages, Thomasson made a superb reflex save from substitute Dan Bradley to send the tie into extra-time.
Four minutes in, Johnson netted his second with a fine finish, then completed his hat-trick with a well-struck free-kick. Bradley then got on the scoresheet with Harriers’ fifth before Jack Byrne completed the scoring with four minutes to go.
Evesham: Thomasson, Spencer, Quaynor, Daniel (Trentham 90), Eze, Connor, Wilson (Bartlam 90), Keen, Wilding, Palmer, McPike (Burness 97). Subs not used: MacKenzie, Clarke.

28.1.12 EVESHAM UNITED 3-4 SWINDON SUPERMARINE
A first-half defensive horror show proved Evesham United’s downfall in losing to rock-bottom Swindon Supermarine in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division.
The Wiltshire outfit led 4-0 at half-time and Matt Clarke’s side looked dead and buried.
A spirited second-half fightback saw United push Swindon all the way but it failed to prevent them claiming just their second away league win of the term.
Manager Clarke made two changes to the side who convincingly beat Weymouth 4-0 the previous Sunday.
Marcus Jackson replaced Jack Winter, who failed a late fitness test, and Henry Eze, man-of-the-match against the Terras, was named on the bench. Evesham looked out of sorts from the start and held out for 22 minutes before falling behind.
Dangerman Nick Stanley’s cross from the left was easily put away by the unmarked Bradley Gray.
The lead was extended two minutes later with Gray again exploiting a square-looking Evesham defence to put Marine 2-0 ahead.
Stanley was again provider for Swindon’s third, crossing to Rob Dean who made no mistake from close range.
It became 4-0 seven minutes before the break with Dean bagging his second after getting on the end of Ben Wells’ cross.
Evesham needed a quick response and got one within six minutes of the restart when Marcus Palmer followed up Ben Pugh’s drive for his 13th goal of the season.
It got better for the Robins on 61 minutes as James McPike found the net after Kyle Lapham’s headed backpass fell short of keeper Ashley Harrison.
Two minutes later, Swindon were awarded a penalty when Simon Fitter handled on the goalline and the Evesham substitute was subsequently sent off.
But United keeper Dan Platt produced a superb save from Gray’s spot-kick to keep the Robins in the hunt.
With seven minutes to go, Craig Wilding made it 4-3 but, despite late pressure, 10-man United were unable to find the last-gasp equaliser their efforts deserved.
Evesham United: Platt, Wilson, Quaynor, Daniel, Spencer (Eze 46), MacKenzie, Jackson (Fitter 46), Wilding, Pugh (Connor 54), McPike, Palmer. Subs not used: Keen, Clarke. Attendance: 84.

21.1.12 EVESHAM UNITED 4-0 WEYMOUTH
Evesham continued their recent good form with their second successive win and first ever over Weymouth in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division. Recent signing Ben Pugh took his goal tally to three in two games and lift the Robins five points clear of the relegation zone. Three second half goals in 12 minutes put the game beyond doubt and blew away the challenge of the visitors from Dorset. The first half was a tight affair with little between the two sides, that was until four minutes before the break. The Weymouth defence failed to clear Neil MacKenzie's free kick and Pugh pounced to give Evesham an interval lead.
Terra's keeper Nick Jordan saved well at the foot of his post from James McPike before Evesham doubled their lead on 64 minutes. A ball over the top allowed Pugh a clear run at goal and the ex-Nuneaton Town striker coolly slotting home under the advancing Jordan. It got worse for Weymouth seven minutes later. Jack Winter got to the byeline before finding James McPike at the near post who guided the ball in past Jordan.
With the Weymouth defence all at sea, Evesham pressed for a fourth and it arrived five minutes later. Winter again provided the cross, this time converted by leading scorer Marcus Palmer for his 12th goal of the season. Evesham were not finished and twice before the final whistle Palmer got into goalscoring positions but failed to find the target with only Jordan to beat. The win was United's biggest league success of the campaign.
Evesham United: Platt, Wilson, Quaynor, Daniel, Eze, Mackenzie, Winter (Connor 77), Wilding, Pugh, McPike (Keen 85), Palmer. Subs not used: Fitter, M. Clarke. Attendance: 187. Referee: J. Farries (Adderbury)

14.1.12 BANBURY UNITED 1-2 EVESHAM UNITED
Evesham increased their hopes of survival with their first win of 2012 at the Spencer Stadium. The Robins paraded latest signing Jared Wilson from Cirencester Town and featured just two of the side that were beaten 5-2 by the Puritans earlier in the season.
Evesham shocked their hosts by going in front after just two minutes. James McPike turning in Josh Quaynor's corner at the near post. The lead was cut on 18 minutes when Danny Edwards's dipping drive gave keeper Dan Platt no chance to pull the home side level.
Edmond should have fired Banbury ahead at the start of the second half but dragged his shot wide with only Platt to beat. Evesham went on to enjoy thier best spell of the game, Ben Pugh rattled the Banbury crossbar and Wayne Daniels's header was hacked off the line by Tom Kinch. The winning goal arrived with 20 minutes to go, Banbury keeper Andy Kemp failed to gather Craig Wilding's drive and Pugh was quickest to react and blast the loose ball home.
Evesham United: Platt, Wilson, Benning, Daniel, Eze, Mackenzie, Winter (Jackson 75), Wilding, Pugh, McPike (Palmer70), Quaynor. Subs not used: Keen, Connor, M. Clarke. Attendance: 198. Referee: G. Russell (Northampton)

7.1.12 BEDFORD TOWN 3-1 EVESHAM UNITED
A Drew Roberts hat-trick sentenced a below-par Evesham United to a second successive league defeat on Saturday leaving the Robins just one place above the relegation zone.
The prolific Roberts took his tally for the season to 24 leaving Evesham pointless in 2012. Bedford who were without a win at home since September, took the lead on 18 minutes. Ollie Thorne was brought down outside the box enabling Roberts to curl in an unstoppable free kick past Dan Platt.
Evesham's closest effort of the first half saw home defender Max York clear off the line from Robins skipper Wayne Daniel. Approaching the hour mark and after a period of intense pressure, Evesham drew level. Substitute Marcus Jackson sent over a low cross that was turned in by leading scorer Marcus Palmer.
Bedford, however, responded and regained the lead within two minutes. Jaimie Hatch and Thorne combined to find Roberts who made no mistake from six yards. Roberts put the game to bed 17 minutes from time, rounding Platt before tapping in to complete his third hat trick of the season.
Bedford stopper Ian Brown prevented Will Richards pulling one back for United producing a fine tip-over from the central defender in stoppage time.
Evesham United: Platt, Spencer (Jackson 44), Benning, Daniel, Richards, Mackenzie, Winter, Wilding (Eze 66), Pugh (Palmer 45), Pugh, McPike, Quaynor. Subs not used: Keen, Connor. Attendance: 256. Referee: C. Francis (Ely).

2.1.12 EVESHAM UNITED 0-2 BRACKLEY TOWN
Big spending Brackley maintained their position at the top of the league but were made to battle all the way for their win against a hardworking Evesham side. The Robins went into the game with two straight wins under their belts but two second half goals ended United's mini revival and drop two places to 18th in the table.
Despite a 16 point difference, there was little to choose between the two sides and clear cut chances hard to come by. Neither keeper was seriously called into action during the opening half. Ben Pugh did test former Evesham stopper Billy Turley in the Saints goal early on and Josh Green got in a last ditch block to deny Evesham's Marcus Palmer.
But it took a stroke of luck for Brackley to break the deadlock on 61 minutes. The experienced Jefferson Louis was fouled on the left and in trying to clear Owen Story's free-kick, skipper Wayne Daniel sent a bullet header past Dan Platt into his own net.
With Evesham chasing the game, the league leaders broke away to score a second on the stroke of full time. A mix-up at he back allowed sub Steve Diggin to race down the right before crossing to Louis who found the target with a simple tap in.
Evesham United: Platt, Connor (Richards 84), Benning, Daniel, Spencer, Mackenzie, Winter, Wilding, Palmer (McPike 63) Pugh, Quaynor. Subs not used: Keen, Clarke, Jackson. Attendance: 121. Referee: A. Matthews(Stroud).

31.12.11 EVESHAM UNITED 1-0 REDDITCH UNITED
Neil MacKenzie's first goal of the season ensured Evesham finished the year on a winning note and move five points clear of the relegation zone. It was the Robins first success against their near neighbours since 2004 and manager Matt Clarke's fourth victory in six games since taking over the Evesham hotseat at the beginning of December.
Redditch, however, were first to threaten, Jemiah Richards having his header cleared off the line by Melvind Benning inside the opening three minutes. But with six minutes on the clock, Evesham were to score the game's only goal. MacKenzie's free kick struck a hand in the defensive wall inside the box and MacKenzie himself coolly found the bottom corner from the resulting spot kick.
Leading scorer Marcus Palmer twice got round the back of the Redditch defence but was denied on both occasions with brave blocks by Reds keeper Dean Coleman. Dan Platt at the other end was called into action before the interval gathering well from Lee Osbourne and Tom Berwick.
Redditch edged possession in the second half with dangerman Berwick going close from distance and then holding off the challenge of two defenders before blazing over.
Three minutes from time and in front of Evesham's biggest crowd of the season, Redditch blew a golden opportunity to get something out of the game. A clumsy challenge by Craig Connor on Jake Jones in the area awarded the vistitors a penalty, but Jones' shot from 12 yards struck a post before being cleared.
Evesham United: Platt, Connor, Benning, Parker, Spencer, Wilding, Quaynor, MacKenzie, Palmer, Pugh (Pountney 77), Jackson (McPike 66). Subs not used: Keen, Clarke, Findlay. Attendance: 213. Referee: A Fielding (Deddington).

26.12.11 CIRENCESTER TOWN 1-2 EVESHAM UNITED
Evesham moved out of the relegation zone for the first time since the beginning of November thanks to two goals by leading scorer Marcus Palmer at the Corinium Stadium. Palmer netted a goal in each half to take his tally for the season into double figures and keep Cirencester firmly rooted at the foot of the table.
It took a while for the game to get going but it was Matt Clarke's new look side who took a 28th minute lead. On loan James McPike created the opening for Palmer who outpaced the home defence before slotting past Centurions keeper Kevin Sawyer.
Jack Winter could have increased the Robins lead before half-time but Sawyer made an important block to deny the Evesham debutant.
Four minutes after the re-start, however, basement boys Cirencester drew level, Zac Westlake got on the end of Jamie Reid's cross to prod in beyond Platt.
Evesham hit back to claim the game's deciding goal after 63 minutes. Craig Connor delivered a right wing cross that found Palmer who guided the ball home past Sawyer.
Cirencester's hopes of getting something from the game disappeared in the closing stages when Reid was shown a stright red for comments made to the referee.
Evesham United: Platt, Connor, Benning, Daniel, Richards, Wilding, Winter, MacKenzie, Palmer (Clarke 89), McPike (Quaynor 76), Jackson (Pountney 76). Subs not used: Pangne, Keen. Attendance: 105. Referee: S Phipps (Abingdon).

17.12.11 EVESHAM UNITED 2-4 CHIPPENHAM TOWN
Evesham's dismal home form cintinued after Alan Griffin's hat-trick sent the Robins to thier eigth league defeat at St. George's Lane. The veteran striker proved a handful for an Evesham side that paraded three debutants in Neil MacKenzie, Marcus Jackson and Luke Findley.
Despite the scorleine it was Evesham who struck first on 14 minutes. Simon Fitter's corner delivered to the back post was headed home by skipper Wayne Daniel.
The lead, however, was cut ten minutes later. Fitter tripped Ross Stearn in the box and Griffin stepped up to score from the spot.
The game turned in Chippenham's favour with three goals in the space of nine second half minutes.
First Lewis Powell headed in Jim Guthrie's in-swinging free kick and then Griffin outjumped the home defence to power home Powell's right wing cross.
Chippenham's fourth and Griffin's hat trick arrived on 57 minutes courtesy of Guthrie's low cross presenting the striker with a simple tap in from close range.
Evesham enjoyed their best spell with the clock ticking down and were rewarded with a second goal when Jackson beat Bluebirds keeper Will Pruddy with a precise finish from the edge of the box.
Evesham United: Platt, Connor, Quaynor, Daniel, Wilding, McKenzie, Fitter (Keen 80), Findlay (Pountney 30), McPike (Clarke 89), Jackson, Palmer. Subs not used: Pangne. Attendance: 101. Referee: S Brown (Redditch).

10.12.11 FROME TOWN 1-2 EVESHAM UNITED
Lewis Pountney got off the bench to score the winner seven minutes from time and secure Evesham's second Evo-Stik Southern Premier double of the season. The victory was manager Matt Clarke's second in three games since taking charge and moves the Robins above Swindon Supermarine to 19th in the table. The best chances of a drab first half fell Frome's way. First Luke Ballinger dragged his shot wide and then Ricky Hulbert fired straight at youngster Dan Platt in the United goal.
But on 30 minutes Evesham fell behind, Jake Harris beating a couple of defenders before firing home past Platt.
The equaliser arrived through Marcus Palmer two minutes before the break. United's leading scorer shrugged off the challenge of Mark Cooper before finding the bottom corner.
Evesham upped the tempo in the second half and were rewarded with the winning goal in the 83rd minute. James Blake's diagonal run ended with the ball finding Pountney who, in one movement netted with a fine finish past Frome stopper Darren Chitty.
Evesham United: Platt, Blake, Quaynor, Daniel, Keen, Connor (Bridges 61), Fitter, Wilding, McPike (Walker 78), Mackey (Pountney 67), Palmer. Subs not used: Casimir, Vogeli. Attendance: 166. Referee: A Tranter (Poole).

6.12.11 EVESHAM UNITED 1-3 ARLESEY TOWN
THIS first-ever meeting between the two sides ended with Evesham United suffering their seventh home defeat of the season in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division with striker Dave Deeney scoring twice for fellow strugglers Arlesey Town.
Despite the visitors’ late arrival, resulting in the game kicking off 20 minutes late, it was the visitors from Hertfordshire who held an interval lead.
Deeney fired the Blues ahead on 39 minutes with an explosive finish from 20 yards.
It took an element of good fortune to enable Evesham to level in the 62nd minute. Josh Quaynor’s inswinging free-kick was headed into his own net by visiting defender Ryan Fratter.
But then two goals in five minutes ended Evesham’s hopes of getting anything out of the game.
Deeney got on the scoresheet again with a crisp finish past keeper Daniel Platt then, with United pushing for an equaliser, they were caught on the break when Joel Mason punish some slack defending with a shot on the turn past Platt.
Late on, Evesham’s Ben Mackey just failed to get a touch to Marcus Palmer’s cross to the back post with visiting keeper Mark Osborn rooted to his line.
Evesham United: Platt, Blake, Quaynor, Daniel, Keen, Connor (Casimir 86), Richards (Pountney 39), Wilding, McPike, Mackey, Palmer. Subs not used: Clarke, Taylor, Vogeli. Attendance: 59. Referee: N Hobbis (Chelmsley Wood).

4.12.11 EVESHAM UNITED 1-0 HITCHIN TOWN
MATT Clarke began his reign as Evesham United manager with a hard-fought league victory against Hitchin Town.
Will Richards’ 10th-minute header was enough to secure United’s first league double and stretch their unbeaten run against the Canaries to six games.
Clarke introduced three new signings, Richards and James McPike both on loan from Solihull and goalkeeper Platt from Stourport Swifts.
Visiting keeper Martin Bennett did well to gather Mackey’s early header before Richards struck for the game’s only goal. Craig Wilding returned Simon Fitter’s free-kick to the Robins midfielder whose centre was powerfully headed in by Richards past the diving Bennett.
Hitchin hit back with Marc Leach and Callum Donnelly having shots saved by the impressive Platt before half-time.
Chances were hard to come by in the second-half with both defences dominating.
Platt did make a brave block to deny the hard-working Donnelly and, in the closing stages, Evesham substitute Lewis Poutney was unable to convert from 10 yards, firing against the legs of the advancing Bennett.
Evesham United: Platt, Blake, Hyde (Connor 56), Daniel, Richards, Walker, Fitter, Wilding, McPike (Pountney 65), Mackey, Quaynor. Subs not used: Casimir, Keen, Clarke.
Attendance:119.

26.11.11 CAMBRIDGE CITY 1-2 EVESHAM UNITED
Managerless Evesham United responded positively to Paul West’s departure by claiming their first Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division victory in four games.
The Robins, under the guidance of general manager Micky Brennan, trailed at the interval but struck twice in the second-half to give their survival hopes a timely boost.
The first period belonged to Cambridge who took the lead on 36 minutes.
Jean-Phillippe Yamfam outstripped a couple of defenders before finding the net despite keeper David Bevan getting a hand to the ball.
The second-half was a different story with Evesham in the ascendancy and it took 11 minutes for the Robins to pull level. Marcus Palmer was fouled in the box resulting in Josh Quaynor sending Zac Barrett the wrong way from the spot.
The deciding goal arrived with 20 minutes to go. Blaine Husdon was judged to have impeded Gary Walker and Ben Mackey stepped up to score from the spot.
Cambridge threw men forward in search of an equaliser but the Evesham rearguard held firm to register just their second league success on the road this season.
Evesham: Bevan, Blake, Hyde, Daniel, Keen (Spencer 45), Walker, Fitter, Wilding, Palmer, Mackey, Quaynor. Not used: Pountney, Clarke, Vogeli, Casimir. 119. Referee: Sian Massey (Coventry).

19.11.11 EVESHAM UNITED 1-3 BARWELL
Evesham drop deeper into the relegation zone and they face a battle to preserve their Premier Division status. Despite West’s side holding an interval lead, three goals in an eight-minute spell early in the second-half turned the game Barwell’s way and leaves the Robins just one place off the foot of the table.
Barwell, in front of Evesham’s lowest crowd of the season, went on the front foot from the off with Luke Barlone squandering a couple of excellent opportunities inside the opening 10 minutes.
But it was Evesham who made the breakthrough on 38 minutes as Simon Fitter opened his account for the season with a well-taken free-kick beyond the reach of keeper Liam Castle.
Striker Ben Mackey missed a golden opportunity to extend United’s lead before half-time, heading Josh Quaynor’s corner wide from six yards.
Barwell, however, were on level terms 13 minutes after the re-start. Keeper David Bevan made a brave block from Jamie Towers, but Kevin Charley was on hand to force the loose ball home.
Five minutes later, the experienced Jai Stanley edged Barwell ahead with a fierce drive from 20 yards.
The game slipped further away from Evesham when Barlone got ahead of his marker to score with a clever back-heel following Towers’ strong run and cross.
Barwell were denied a fourth in the closing stages when substitute David Blenkinsopp’s drive struck a post before being cleared.
Evesham: Bevan, Blake, Hyde, Daniel, Gourlay, Walker (Spencer 72), Fitter, Wilding, Palmer, Mackey, Pountney (Quaynor 31). Not used: Connor, Keen, Casimir.

15.11.11 EVESHAM UNITED 1-2 LEAMINGTON
EVESHAM United gave a vastly-improved performance last night against high-flying Leamington but, despite taking the lead, suffered their ninth Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division defeat of the season.
The Robins, who gave home debuts to three players, coped with early pressure from their big-spending visitors to take a 12th-minute lead. Leading scorer Marcus Palmer was upended in the area by Lee Downes and Ben Mackey made no mistake from 12 yards against his former club.
Palmer struck a post after Mackey had created the opening before Leamington hit back to equalise on 25 minutes. Michael Touhy dispossessed returning skipper Wayne Daniel to pick out David Kolodynski who buried a low drive past goalkeeper David Bevan.
That was how it stayed until three minutes into the second-half. James Husband, a constant threat down the left, got to the byline before pulling the ball back for James Mace to fire the Brakes 2-1 ahead.
The visitors were forced to play the remaining 23 minutes with 10 men when Downes was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
The closest Evesham came to getting some reward for their hard work arrived in the last minute when visiting keeper Lee Evans made a brave block to prevent Craig Wilding from grabbing a last-gasp equaliser.
Evesham United: Bevan, Blake, Hyde, Daniel, Gourlay, Wilding, Fitter, Walker, Palmer, Mackey, Pountney. Subs not used: Quaynor, Keen, Connor, Vogeli, Casimir. Attendance: 172.

12.11.11 ST ALBANS CITY 4 - 1 EVESHAM UNITED
St Albans City took full advantage of an Evesham United side missing their entire defence through injury and suspension to claim maximum Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division points at Clarence Park.
Despite the Robins taking an early lead through Josh Quaynor’s spot-kick, St Albans hit back to net four first-half goals and effectively end the contest by the interval.
Evesham started brightly and shocked their hosts by taking a 10-minute lead. James Gray brought down Lewis Pountney in the box and Quaynor converted the penalty.
St Albans responded and equalised within four minutes. Former Queens Park Rangers and Coventry City striker Paul Furlong sent a firm headers past debutant goalkeeper David Bevan.
Two goals in two minutes saw the Saints storm 3-1 ahead. Furlong got on the end of Sean Shields’ cross for his second and then Mo Shariff, on loan from QPR, made it three with the help of a deflection off Evesham’s Jamie Hyde.
Shariff scored a fourth just before the break converting after good work by Ryan Watts.
Marcus Palmer threatened briefly for Evesham in the second period but St Albans’ strong first-half display left under-strength United a mountain to climb.
Evesham United: Bevan, Quaynor, Hyde, Blake, Walker, Wilding, Connor, Casimir, Palmer, Mackey, Pountney (Vogeli 45). Subs not used: Taylor, Swain, Spencer. Attendance: 288.

25.10.11 BARWELL 5-1 EVESHAM UNITED (F.A. TROPHY QUALIFYING REPLAY)
BARWELL eased into the next round of the FA Carlsberg Trophy last night against a depleted Evesham side in Tuesday night’s first qualifying round replay at the Kirkby Road Sports Ground.
Unavailability meant United manager Paul West struggled to put out a starting 11 and his cause wasn’t helped when influential defender Andy Jones was carried off after 10 minutes.
Despite the setbacks, Evesham shocked the home crowd by taking a second-minute lead. Jones got on the end of Simon Fitter’s free-kick to glance a header past home keeper Liam Castle.
Jones’ early departure, however, unsettled the Robins and the home side took full advantage. But it took a fluke to enable the Canaries to draw level. Luke Barlone out wide, delivered a cross that deceived Dave Adey in the United goal and dropped into the corner of the net.
Evesham, who should have put the tie to bed two days earlier, fell behind six minutes later when Nigel Julien gave Adey no chance after a run and finish.
On the half-hour, Barlone was fouled in the box and Kevin Charley confidently netted from the spot to make it 3-1. Any hopes Evesham had of getting back into the game disappeared just four minutes after the re-start when Jamie Towers rounded Adey before rolling home Barwell’s fourth.
The rout was completed on 71 minutes, substitute Anthony Griffiths firing in a superb free-kick after Barlone had been fouled on the edge of the penalty area.
Evesham United: Adey, Blake, Spencer, Daniel, Jones, (Woodley 10), Walker, Fitter, (Otobo 45), Connor, Palmer, Pountney, Quaynor. Subs not used: O’Kelly, Taylor, Malhotra. Referee: J Clark (Walsall). Attendance: 104

23.10.11 EVESHAM UNITED 2-2 BARWELL (F.A. TROPHY QUALIFYING)
EVESHAM United manager Paul West was looking for a response from his players after the horror show at Stourbridge in the FA Cup the previous week and got one, despite his side being held by Barwell in the FA Trophy first qualifying round.
Jamie Towers’ equaliser five minutes from time earned the Canaries a second bite of the cherry in a game when Evesham should have won on chances created.
United made the early running, Gary Walker twice and Lewis Pountney all went close to breaching the Barwell back-four. It took 20 minutes for the visitors to register their first shot on goal, debutant goalkeeper Steven Williams forced into action by Scott Hadland.
Against the run of play, Barwell stole the lead on 26 minutes. Luke Barlone’s attempted cross was deflected into the path of SAnthony Griffiths, who prodded in past Williams.
The lead, however, lasted just 60 seconds. In attempting to clear Walker’s snap-shot, defender Mason Rowley headed past his own keeper into the top corner.
Kevin Charley brought the best out of Williams, forcing the former Wycombe Wanderers keeper into a flying save. But in the last action of the half, Evesham took the lead.
Craig Wilding got on the end of Andy Jones’ pull back for a simple tap-in following Simon Fitter’s free-kick.
The Robins carved out some decent chances in the second-half without taking any of them. Marcus Palmer twice blazed wildly over in front of goal and Wilding rattled the crossbar.
A decisive third goal for Evesham never arrived and it was left to Towers to earn Barwell a replay with five minutes to go when his drive took a wicked deflection to wrong-foot Williams and sail into the corner of the net.
Evesham United: Williams, Blake, Hyde, Daniel, Jones, Walker, Fitter, Wilding, Palmer, Pountney, Quaynor. Subs not used: Spencer, O’Kelly, Connor, Hands, Adey. Referee: Mr P Hobday (Tipton). Attendance: 107.

27.9.11 STOURBRIDGE 2 - 1 EVESHAM UNITED (RED INSURE CUP PRELIMINARY ROUND)
EVESHAM United failed to make progress in the Red Insure Cup going out to Stourbridge in the Preliminary Round.
With an important FA Cup second qualifying round tie at Eastwood Town on Saturday in mind, manager Paul West made sweeping changes, with six players missing that had made the starting line-up against Chesham United three days earlier.
After a blank-first-half that saw United’s Andy Jones and Wayne Daniel go close with headers, it was Evesham who made the breakthrough on 57 minutes. Lewis Pountney headed Josh Quaynor’s free-kick into the path of Jones who slotted in past keeper Lewis Solly.
The lead lasted 12 minutes. Poor defending allowed Aaron Drake to drive into the bottom corner and draw the Glassboys level.
Fifteen minutes from time, Stourbridge clinched a home tie against Stourport Swifts in the first round, with the winning goal. John Griffin got behind the Robins’ back-four to drill home past Nathan Vaughan.
Evesham pressed in the closing stages in an attempt to force extra-time. Craig Connor had his header touched over by Solly and Daniel rose to head narrowly wide, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Stourbridge from taking their place in the next round.
Evesham United: Vaughan, O’Kelly, Woodley, Daniel, Jones, Wilding (Taylor 86), Connor, Dinsley (Blake 45), Bridges (Palmer 76), Pountney, Quaynor. Subs not used: Hands, Adey
Attendance: 208 Referee: Mr. D. Kuzmanovic (Lichfield)

24.9.11 CHESHAM UNITED 2 - 1 EVESHAM UNITED
John Kyriacou’s super strike four minutes from time yesterday sentenced Evesham United to their seventh Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division defeat of the season.
The Chesham full-back burst forward and netted with a spectacular shot past goalkeeper Dave Adey to maintain the Generals’ 100 per cent home record.
It was tough on Paul West’s men who deserved to take something from the game.
Evesham were lucky not to fall behind in the opening minute.
Simon Thomas rounded Adey but shot into the side-netting with the goal at his mercy.
Moments later, Thomas again looked certain to score but shot straight at the advancing Adey.
Evesham then enjoyed a good spell, with Chesham’s Mark Lambert slearing off the line to deny Marcus Palmer. Then skipper Wayne Daniel heading just wide.
But it was the home side who took the lead through Thomas’ firm finish on 22 minutes.
It was no surprise when Evesham levelled five minutes before the break.
Substitute Lewis Poutney scoring with his first touch after John Quaynor’s cross had been knocked down by Craig Wilding.
The best chances fell Evesham’s way in the second-half.
Poutney’s cross-cum-shot struck the Chesham crossbar and Wilding volleyed wide from six yards with only keeper Shane Gore to beat.
But with the clock ticking down, Kyriacou produced a finish worthy to win any game.
Evesham United: Adey, Blake, Hyde, Daniel, Jones, Luckett (Poutney 35), Fitter, Walker (Dinsley 88), Palmer, Wilding, Quaynor (O’Kelly 75). Subs not used: Hands.

17.9.11 EVESHAM UNITED 4 - 0 ROCESTER (FA CUP WITH BUDWEISER 1ST RD QUALIFYING)
|
|
There was no repeat of last season’s shock exit against lower-graded opposition when Evesham United eased past Baker Joiner Midland Alliance side Rocester to book their place in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup. Hero for the Robins was striker Marcus Palmer who bagged the match ball after a second-half hat-trick. Rocester put up a decent showing in the first period, Jack Langston and Darren Bullock both forcing Nathan Vaughan to save.
